How to Get Your Team to Work Together

As a team building exercise to start your next staff meeting, have your team take the Personality Test to see what type of personality each person possesses. Have the team tell everyone the type of personality they have.

Analyze the results, and ask the team the following questions about the results:

  • If there are personality types that work well together
  • If there are personalities that could be opposite and could prevent the team from working well together.

Knowledge of the different types of personalities could help with future projects and learn how to get your team to work together. It will create better teamwork at the office and develop a stronger team support.

New staff, no problem

Some new staff may feel intimidated to work in a team of existing employees. If a team project has popped up and the new employee is involved, they may get lost in the background and not feel comfortable expressing their opinion, which could help with how the project works.

Try the following icebreakers as team building exercises to help the new employee get to know the staff and vice versa:

  • Would You Rather: Ask your staff several “would you rather” questions to see who would have the same answers
  • Two Truths and a Lie: Have your staff go around and share three things about them, two being truths and one being a lie. Have your staff guess the lie. It is a great way to find out an interesting thing about an employee.
  • Question Ball: On a beach ball, write several questions all over it. Throw the ball to one staff member to the other and the question they have to answer is the question under their right thumb. Be creative with your questions to get to know your staff better.

Icebreakers are also a great way to start your staff meetings as a way to get your staff’s energy up. You can also reward them with treats for participating in an icebreaker.

Up high, down low

If your staff meeting is short for time, have your staff go around and share their highs and lows for the week.

Ask your staff:

  • What’s your high point of the week
  • What’s your low point of the week

This is a great way to get your staff to talk about what is going on in their week, and it could have a potential for the staff to find solutions to a person’s low. This makes the team support each other and lets a strong sense of communication among the team.
